Willis Reid Warren

Willis Reid Warren, 89 of died Friday, May 20, 2011 at home.

Mr. Warren was born March 13, 1922 in Halifax County to the late Winfield Warren, Sr. and Ruth Liles Warren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Phoebe Rice Warren; sister: Ruth W. Aycock; brother: Lynn Warren; sister-in-law: Winifred Warren.

Mr. Warren work for the Halifax County Schools for over 50 years retiring as superintendant of the Halifax County Bus Garage. Enjoyed feeding wildlife everyday and donating to the Arbour Foundation. Mr. Warren was a dedicated Duke fan, enjoyed sports and watching the news. He was active until his death, taking pride in enjoying friends, family, gardening and yard work. Mr. Warren never had children, but, there were lots of kids who considered themselves to be his children.

Mr. Warren is survived by three brothers: Winfield Warren, Harry “Buddy” Warren and wife Josephine of Littleton, Braxton Warren and wife Linda of Roanoke Rapids; five nephews Ricky Warren of Nags Head, Steve Warren, Joseph Warren, Chris Warren and Craig Warren all of Littleton; two nieces Terry R. Warren of Hawaii and Kim W. Johnston of Roanoke Rapids.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Henry Stephens and Rev. Sid Collins officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life
