William McCoy Britton

William McCoy Britton, 72, of 128 Savannah Circle N, Roanoke Rapids, N.C. died January 6, 2010 at home. 

 Mr Britton was a native of Ahoskie, N.C. and a former resident of Lake Gaston.  He was a man who loved life.  He was a good husband and a man who loved his family.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  Mr. Britton loved gardening and will be badly missed.  Mr. Britton was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Louise Britton, and a brother, Marvin Britton, Jr..  He is survived by his wife, Julia Haislip Britton, of the home; four daughters; Debbie Vaughan and her husband, Ray, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lori Britton, of Traveler's Rest, S.C., Kelly Bradley, of Ahoskie, N.C., and Kasey Pearce and her husband Brian, of Ahoskie, N.C.; two stepdaughters; Teresa Haislip and her husband Jeff, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Kimberly Ludlam and her husband Mike, of Conway, S.C.; five grandchildren, Brandon, Hunter, Parker, Edward, and Brian; and four stepgrandchildren, Tommy, Zack, Wes, and Reid.  Graveside services will be held Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 2:00 PM, at Highland Memorial Park in Ahoskie, N.C. with Jeff Haislip officiating.  Memorial contributions can be made to Community Home Health and Hospice of Halifax, to which the family wishes to thank Tom, Cindy, and Joy, who were there when they needed them most.  Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences can be made to www.hockadayfs.com

Mcoy was my uncle. My many days spent with him as a boy hunting and fishing is one of my finest childhood memories. May he rest in peace. God bless .
