Virginia Dare Hawkins

Virginia Dare Hawkins, 93, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson.

 

 

She was born May 19, 1916 to the late Richard Roger Hawkins and Nora Carlisle Hawkins and was also preceded in death by  her brothers: William Tillson Hawkins and Joseph Roger Hawkins.

She was a life long member of Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church and a proud member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.

Miss Hawkins  is survived by her nephew: Joseph Richard Hawkins and wife,  Patricia Odom Hawkins of Concord; her niece: Caroline Hawkins Spencer and husband David, of Hampton, Virginia; her great nieces and nephews: Valerie Spencer Muth (Bob);  Kevin Todd Spencer (Aleta) , Travis Craig Hawkins (Donna); great-great nieces and nephews: Audrey Muth, Austin Muth, Zachary Spencer, Lamae Spencer, and Lincoln Wade Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church  at 2:30 P.M. conducted by Rev. Sid Collins and Rev. Bob Rose.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service on Saturday, December 5, 2009, from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church,  6955 Highway 48, Roanoke Rapids, N. C. 27870.

Arrangements are under the care of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.

Ms. Hawkins was a wonderful person with a very genuine personality. During my quest to find information pertaining to my ancestry Hawkins lineage, Ms. Hawkins was a great support. Certainly, she will be sorely missed!
