Mrs. Wright was born July 5, 1927 to the late Howard Arthur Garris and Polly Owens Garris in Halifax County and was a lifelong resident of Roanoke Rapids. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband: Simon “Speck” Wright; two brothers: Howard “Goat” Garris and Robert Earl “Pete: Garris; three sisters: Grace Moseley, Annie Bradley and Roxie Garner.

Mrs. Wright was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

She is survived by two daughters: Becky W. Beaver and her husband John of Albuquerque, NM and Roanoke Rapids and Pam Baird and her husband Dickie of Durham, NC; Brother-in-law: Raymond Garner of Roanoke Rapids; three grandchildren: Sean Beaver and his wife Denise, Jennifer Baird and Dickie Baird, II and his wife Natalie; three great grandchildren: Macie Shea Beaver, Wyatt Beaver and Nancy Amaya; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Cedarwood Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Marjorie Holm officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
