Robert Warren Niles

Robert Warren Niles, 66 of 127 S. Daniel Court, Macon, N.C. died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Niles was born September 7, 1944 to the late Henry Niles, Jr. and Bernice Martin Niles. He was also preceded in death by a brother “in law” Michael Thomas.

Bob was best known as a devoted husband, proud father, and doting grandfather.  During his 66 years, Bob had the pleasure and joy of both his family and his many friends, neighbors, and co-workers.

Bob served as a Fleet Marine Corpsman for KILO Company during Vietnam, and was still in contact with many of the men with whom he was proud to have served. Through his many years of work in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Bob was fortunate to not only excel in his field, earning the respect of many colleagues, but also to form many lasting friendships.  After retiring from the Pharmaceutical Industry, Bob decided to work part-time at Home Depot where he always had a smile and sound advice waiting for the people he met.

Throughout his life, anyone who knew Bob knew how much he loved his family.  It was impossible to know him and not know about his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.  When Bob was not enjoying life with his family, he could either be found playing golf or fishing.  Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  May he rest in Peace.   SEMPER FI!!!!

Mr. Niles is survived by his wife: Sandra Niles of the home; His Son: Lt. Cmdr. Sean Patrick Niles and wife Cheryl of Woodbridge, VA; Brother:  Dennis Niles; Brothers “in law”; Bob Thomas and wife Judy of Selma, N.C., John Thomas and wife Jackie of Milton, Wisconsin, Jim Thomas and wife Dolly of Delavan, Wisconsin, Larry Thomas of Dekalb, Illinois, Don Thomas and wife Julie of National City, California, Bill Thomas and wife Yoneko of Walworth, Wisconsin; Sister in law: Ruth Thomas of Delavan, Wisconsin.
