Nellie Evans Powell

Nellie Evans Powell, 81, of Guardian Care passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011.

Mrs. Powell was born February 11, 1930 in Halifax County, NC to the late Isaac Leonard Evans and Senora Henderson Evans.  In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her brothers; Cecil Evans and Kenneth Evans.

She was a member of The Trinity Church, member of AmVets Post 101 Ladies Auxiliary, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her children: William Kenneth Pulliam and wife Pat, Richard Lynn Pulliam, Bobby Ray Pulliam and Betty Angela Cole all of Roanoke Rapids, Jerry Phillip Pulliam and wife April of Lasker, NC and Rita Pulliam Medlin and husband Jerry of Halifax; Brother: James Edward Evans and wife Emma of Roanoke Rapids; sister-in-law: Anne Evans; grandchildren: William O. D. Pulliam, Joshua Michael Pulliam, Joseph Wayne Pulliam, Stephanie Lauren Pulliam, Samantha Pulliam, Zachary Pulliam, Wendy Rook and husband Wayne, Joshua Medlin and fiance’ Bonnie, Joshua Matthew Moore, Heather Moore; great grandchildren: Faith Harris, Dawson Rook, Senora Washington and Taylor Moore, a number of nieces and nephews and her family at Guardian Care.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Maurice Wheat officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday, October 31, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and other timws at 1406 Williams Street.

So sorry we are out of town. We will miss Nellie as she was such a talented person and great friend. Bessie worked with Nellie for many years too. Please know we will be praying for the family.
