Naomi Walker Baird

Naomi Walker Baird, 96, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at her home.

Mrs. Baird was born May 14, 1915, to the late Leonard Walker and Lena Jane Jenkins Walker.  Also preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Lloyd Baird;  a son, David R. Baird; sisters: Verla Carter and Betty Rue Pittman; brothers: Edward Walker and Willie Floyd Walker.

Surviving her are her sons: Cecil Baird and wife,  Betty, of Roanoke Rapids; Lloyd Baird of Skippers, Virginia; and Bobby Baird and wife, Ann, of Rocky Mount; her daughter: Charlotte Ferguson and husband, Ed, of Roanoke Rapids; brother: Vernon Walker of Wilson; brother-in-law: Ulyssee Baird; sisters: Rachel Owens  and Lurleen Wilson of Littleton; sisters-in-law: Mary Elizabeth Paynter and Dorothy B. Lynch; daughter-in-law: Candy Baird; grandchildren: Rob Ferguson, Chris Ferguson (Sonya), Robert Payne,  Jr. (Shelby), Paula Miles  (Darell), Michael Baird, Calvin Baird (Jessica), Jeffrey Baird, Julie Baird, Kim Beneck (Chris); great-grandchildren: Thomas & James Ferguson, Eric and Kara Baird, Hanna Baird, Jacob & Summer Baird, Jamelyn Ferguson and, Emma Beneck.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 4, 2011, from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Weavers Chapel United Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Stan Lewis officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
