Mildred Gibson Allen

Mildred Gibson, Allen, 75, of 448 Colonial Drive, Roanoke Rapids, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

 

She was a llifetime member of the Little Country Baptist Church, and was a giving, loving, good Christian lady who worked hard for her church. She knew everybody and always helped her friends and neighbors in need.

Mrs. Allen was born November 26, 1935, to the late Harry Lee Gibson and Ethel Walters Gibson. She was also predeceased by her husband, Randolph Allen; brothers: Albert Lee Gibson, Frank Gibson, James Henry Gibson, and Rex Bell Gibson, and a sister, Beanie Sadler.

Her survivors include her daughter, Beverly Ellis and husband, Lloyd, of Roanoke Rapids; her brothers: Bob Melton Gibson and wife, Janice, of Roanoke Rapids; Clinton Howard Gibson and his friend, Barbara, of Hayes, Virginia; her sisters: Mary G. Garoutte, of Aurora, Missouri; Lillian G. Merritt, of Roanoke Rapids; Mattie J. Gibson, of Weldon; and Polly Gibson, of Darlington; her grandchild: Sheryl  Ellis of Asheville; great-grandchildren: Kirsten Young, Stephanie Mead, and Molly Nolan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at Crestview Memorial Cemetery conducted by Kenneth Brantley.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 4, 2011, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home, 448 Colonial Drive.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Mildred. She was indeed a very special woman. I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the service, but please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
