Lester Ray Chambers

ROANOKE RAPIDS

Lester Ray Chambers, 57, of 130 Gowen Drive, died Monday, January 30, 2012, at Wake Medical Center.

Mr. Chambers was a longtime active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and long time auto body repairman.

He was born December 17, 1954, to the late Oren Chambers and Mary Burton Hutcherson, who survives. He was also predeceased by his step-father, Richard Hutcherson, and his step-mother, Jessie Chambers.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda H. Chambers; his mother, Mary Burton Hutcherson; his son, Howard Chambers and wife, Tonia; his daughter, Eva Chambers, all of Roanoke Rapids; his brothers, David Chambers and wife, Johnna, of Pelham, N. C., Ricky Hutcherson and wife Susan, and Johnny Hutcherson of North Carolina; his sister, Julia Bailey and husband, Roger, of Pelham, N. C.; five grandchildren, Kelly Jones,  Zoe Faith Chambers, Makayla Chambers, Payton Chambers and Owen Ray Chambers.  Also surviving are his brothters and sisters of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements with Rev. Rick Gaskins officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.            

                                        

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, from 7 – 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at 130 Gowen Drive.

To all the family and friends who had the pleasure of knowing my uncle; I hope that we all can find comfort in the wonderful memories that we all have and hold dear to our hearts. Lester will be greatly missed and forever loved.
