Lenwood "Preacher" Bolton

Lenwood  “Preacher” Bolton, Sr. , 83, of 521 Jewel Street, Roanoke Rapids, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.  

 

 

He was very caring and loved his family with all he had. Mr. Bolton was a retired employee of J. P. Stephens with 32 years service and a United States Army Veteran.

He was born December 19, 1926, in Halifax County to the late Rufus Lenwood Bolton and Troy Lassiter Bolton, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Neda Acree Bolton; a granddaughter, Shannon Ann Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Summer Cheyenne Dixon.

He is survived by his son, Lenwood Bolton, Jr. and wife, Ginny A. Bolton, of Gaston;  his daughter, Wanda Gail Bolton of the home; three granddaughters, Christy Bolton Parker of Roanoke Rapids, Ashley Elizabeth Bolton  and Brittany Nicole Moss, of the home; three grandsons: Christopher Lynn Bolton of Roanoke Rapids, Jesse Ray Aycock of Sterling, Virginia, and Justin Tyler Bolton of Gaston; six great-grandchildren: Damon Cole Bolton, Josie Leigh Sherman, Elizabeth Hope Parker, Dylan James Parker, Erica Lynn Parker and Austin Craig Moss;  three sisters: Igy Bolton Ennis of Lynchburg, Virginia, Lillian Bolton Ricks and Sally Bolton Woodruff of Roanoke Rapids; and special friends: Thomas Clarke, Mitchell Dixon, and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hux, and Ashley Parker.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service conducted by Kenneth Brantley. 

The family will receive friends after the service and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lenwood Bolton, Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o of P. O. Box 698, Roanoke Rapids, N. C. 27870.
