Larry Patrick Shaw, Sr.

At approximately 9:40 PM on Thursday, September 1st, Larry Shaw moved from Smith Church Rd. to his brand new home in heaven, and knowing he’s no longer suffering from the pain of cancer or the cares of this life, the family will share with friends and extended family in a Celebration of Larry’s Life to be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 6th, at Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roanoke Rapids.

Larry was a Halifax County native born March 24, 1951 to the late Jimmy D. Shaw and Mary Patrick Shaw.  He attended school at William R. Davie and was a faithful and dedicated member of the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.  He was a long time member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church and Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He also owned and operated a heating and air conditioning business in the Roanoke Valley area.  Other than his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy D. Shaw, Jr. and sister, Debbie Shaw.

Family left to cherish his memory are his wife, Aubria “Abby” Shaw of the home; three sons, Jay Jean of Emporia, VA, Scotty Jean and wife, Nikki, of Roanoke Rapids and Larry Shaw, Jr. and wife, Alesia of Lexington, SC; one brother, Johnny Shaw of Gaston; six grandchildren, Gabrielle Jean, Makayla Jean, Laney Jean, Aubria “Bria” Shaw, Larry Patrick Shaw, III, and Meredith Shaw.  Also surviving are his unofficially adopted children, Jason Rowland and Misty Rowland along with his beloved Dachshunds.

Celebration of Life services will be officiated by Pators Tony Smith and Fred Jones.

Abby, my heart goes out to you. You have been an asset to Larry through your relationship. I remember when you and he got together and started going to church at Gum Chapel bringing little Scottie and Jay. Then came "Little" Larry, the spitting image of his dad. You all made a handsome family. I am greatful to be a part of such a great family. He will be missed, but he will be remembered for years to come as are his mother, brother and sister who went on before him and I am sure they have have welcomed him into heaven with open arms. Love you Abby, and I will come by to check on you in the near future, you can count on that. Love, Wanda

A sad time for us, but a happy time for him. We will certainly miss his smile, his humor and his friendship.
