Judith Diane Moss Gantt

Judy Moss Gantt, 61, passed away on June 13, 2010 at her home.  Judy was born on March 30, 1949, in Roanoke Rapids to Elizabeth Brewer Moss.

Judy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dennis Gantt, Sr.  She leaves behind two children, Dennis Gantt, Jr. and his wife, Renae of Raleigh and Sheri Beals and her husband, Tim, of Pleasant Hill.

She was blessed with four grandchildren, Caleb and Taylor Gantt and Cody and Meagan Beals.  She is also survived by three siblings, Allen, Tommy, and Etta, all of Roanoke Rapids.

Judy graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School and attended Chowan College.  She was an employee of Bears, Inc., but was retired from Rural Development.  She was an extraordinary wife, mother, Nana, daughter, sister and a loyal and faithful friend.  Judy’s talents were varied and unlimited.  There are families whose dining room tables showcase her exquisite crocheted tablecloths.  Countless infants have been cuddled in her knitted or crocheted afghans.  Judy was a quiet soul whose caring ways were demonstrated in what she did for others and not what she expected others to do for her.

Visitation will be at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, June 16, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M..

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor David Schmaltz at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 1:00 P.M. with graveside services following at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

Memorial gifts may be made to Foundation for Hospice, c/o Continuum, P. O. Box 2004, Roanoke Rapids, N. C. 27870, or Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, Roanoke Valley Relay, 930 B. Wellness Drive, Greenville, N. C. 27834.

Online condolences may be made to www.hockadayfs.com.
