Jimmy Van Wilson

Jimmy Van Wilson, 57, of 415 Quail Court Road,  Roanoke Rapids, died  Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

He attended the Church of Jesus Christ on Emry Street, and was involved with NASCAR.  He dearly loved the sport of car racing.

Born April 29, 1953, to the late Edward Van Wilson and Marie Griffin Wilson, he was also predeceased by two sisters: Connie Johnson DeBerry and Gloria Jo Hernandez.

He is survived by  his son, Edward Van Wilson, II, and wife, Sarah, of Roanoke Rapids; his brother: Larry Wilson of Carolina Beach, N. C.;  his nephews: Cliff “Boogie” Johnson and wife, Karen, of Roanoke Rapids, and Troy Johnson and wife, Jane, of Charlotte; one niece, Brandy Wilson, of Roanoke Rapids; great nephew, Brandon  Tanner and a great niece, Kaitlyn Johnson , both of Roanoke Rapids; and his ex-wife, Kathy Moss of Roanoke Rapids.

Graveside services will be held  Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Cedarwood  Cemetery at 1 P.M. conducted by Rev. Kent Pulley.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, May 21, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements.
