James Willie White, Sr.

James Willie White, Sr., 85, of 1226 Georgia Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, at South Village in Rocky Mount, N. C.

 

 

Mr. White was the oldest member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was born February 28, 1925, to the late Atlas White and Annie Israel White, and was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Jessie P. White, his first wife, Eula Stansbury White, a daughter, Linda White, and a son, James W. White, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Merle Parker White; his sons:Rev. Wayne White and wife, Penny, of Roanoke Rapids, and David Earl White of Henderson; his step-sons: Larry Garriss and wife, Shirley, of Nashville, Tennessee, and John Michael Garris and wife, Deanna, of Roanoke Rapids; his step-daughters: Susan Mitchell and husband, Allen, and Kimberly Davis and husband, Terry, of Roanoke Rapids; his grandchildren: Robbie and Teresa White; five great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 3,2010, at 1:00 P. M. at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church conducted by Rev. Norwood Starling, Rev. Wayne White, and Rev. Randy Martin. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 2, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements.
