Jacqueline A. Doherty Claflin

Jacqueline A. Doherty Claflin of 1241 Golf Course Road, Littleton, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at her home.

 

 


 

Born to the late Francis Doherty and Claire Rayner Doherty, she was also preceded in death by  her brother, Frank Doherty, her sister, Claire O’Beirne, and her daughter, Bonnie Claflin.  Mrs. Claflin was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was an accomplished equestrian and loved her horse, Tim.  She was a leading competitor in  Hunter Jumper equestrian events on Long Island.  She loved swimming in the lake, loved living at Myrick Estates,  and loved all her friends.  She volunteered at Halifax Regional Medical  Center and also volunteered at Easton, Connecticut Library prior to moving to North Carolina .  She was a member of the Red Hat Club.  Mrs. Claflin is survived by her husband, Richard Claflin, of the home; her daughter, Laurie Lingwood and husband, David, of Water Mill, New York; her grandchildren: Justin, Con and Dez; and her great-grandchildren Haley and Kerry.  A memorial service will be held Monday, February 1, 2010, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 4:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Stan Lewis.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M.  Memorial gifts may be made to  Home Health and Hospice of Halifax, 1229 Julian R.
