Gertrude "Snowdean" Finch

Gertrude “Snowdean” Finch, 75, of 1414 Welmont Street, Weldon died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Finch was born February 7, 1936 in Halifax County to the Late William Eason and Margie Lucille Pulliam Eason.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a special Daughter-in-law Janet Finch.

Mrs. Finch was known as the family comedian aka “funny lady”.  She volunteered at ‘Halifax Regional Medical Center.  She and her daughter-in-law Janet loved to sing gospel music all around the community.  Mrs. Finch was the strongest and best mother to her children, loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Finch is survived by her husband and best friend of 55 years Howerton C. Finch of the home; sons: Gene Finch and special friend Linda, Howerton C. Finch, Jr. all of Roanoke Rapids; Timothy Finch and special friend Bernice of Weldon; “Mike and Jean” of Littleton: daughters Priscilla Edwards and husband Dennis and Angela Wright and fiancé Phillip Bailey all of Roanoke Rapids: seventeen grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren with one on the way; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Hockaday Funeral Home with Pastor Annie Marie Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at the home, 1414 Welmont Street, Weldon  and his daughters home, 1506 Dogwood Street in Roanoke Rapids.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.

howard I'm darrell's dad diane and moved to texas in late 1999.very sorry o hear about your loss.our thoughts and prayers are with you.I know you and gene are proabley still painting houses.I called darrell and told him he lives in rocky mount
