Fletcher Monroe "Monty" Cox

Fletcher “Monty” Monroe Cox, 48,  of 80 Dole Drive, Roanoke Rapids, died, Friday, September 23, 2011, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Monty was a 10 year veteran of the U. S. Army and loved watching the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. race and collecting his memorabilia; he dearly loved watching NASCAR.

He was born March 7, 1963, to the late John William “Billy” Cox, Sr. and Dorothy Merritt Storey who survives.

Surviving  in addition to his mother and her husband, Jimmy Storey,  are his son, Christopher  Cox and his daughter, Talia Cox, of Texas; his brothers: John Cox and wife, Nanette, and Jimmy Storey, Jr. and fiancé Cassie of Roanoke Rapids; his sisters: Tiffany Harper and husband, Mark, of Roanoke Rapids, and Natalie Kring and husband, Mark, of Raleigh; his grandchild: Noah Cox, and several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held Monday in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 A.M. conducted by Pastor Michael Jones.  Private burial will be held at a later time.
