Evy Cartwright Cahoon

Evy Cartwright Cahoon, 91, died Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cahoon was born July 3, 1920 in Hyde County, NC to the late Wallace Cartwright and Fannie Mae Bishop Cartwright.  She was a long time waitress at Howard Johnson’s.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Hayes Cahoon and her son Leslie Glenn Cahoon.

Surviving are her sons, Tony Cahoon of Roanoke Rapids, and William Cahoon, and wife, Judy of Gloucester, VA; one daughter, Doris Jean Tarape, and husband, David of Hampton, VA; two sisters, Marina Windley of Belhaven, NC, and Minnie Beatrice Goodman of Kinston, NC.  Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service from 7-9 pm.

Funeral services will be conducted by Minister Fred Ash, Monday, November 14, 2011 at the funeral home at 3:00 pm.  Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
