Emma Ruth Bryant Johnson

Roanoke Rapids-

Emma Ruth Bryant Johnson, 88, died Saturday, December 10, 2011 in Williamson, GA.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Halifax County, February 7, 1923, to the late Rensy Dow Bryant and Ethel Ingrim Bryant.  Ms. Emma was in the first graduating class at William R. Davie School in 1941.  She retired from restaurant management.  She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Donovan "Donni" Carpenter.

Surviving are her sons, Ray Carpenter of Hampton, VA, and Preston Carpenter and wife, Lil, of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Donna Boykins, and husband Richard of Point Blank, TX; brother, Bill Bryant of Roanoke Rapids, and her sister, Virginia Britton of Chincoteague, VA.  Also surviving are three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

A graveside service will be held at Quankie Baptist Church Cemetery, Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 3:00 pm officiated by Rev. Jerry Boyd, Rev. Henry Stephens, and Rev. Frank Stansbury.
