Donald Wayne Keener

HALIFAX, NORTH CAROLINA

Donald Wayne Keener, 68, of 64 Clover Lane, Halifax, died Sunday, January 15, 2012, at his home.

 

Mr. Keener was born to the late Lovell Bryan Keener and Maude Boseman Keener on June 15, 1943.  Also preceding him in death were his wife, Alice Keener; brother, Lowell Keener; and daughter-in-law, Wanda Keener.

He was a member of Quankie Baptist Church and a past member of the Eagles Lodge.

Surviving him is his wife, Cathy, of the home; his son, Darryl Keener, of Littleton; his daughters, Sharon Keener Johnson and husband,  Ed, of Halifax, Olivia Keener Mead and husband, Mark, of Roanoke Rapids, and his adopted daughter, Laura Keener Raymond and husband, Rick, of Mechanicsville, Virginia; his sister, Mildred Tritt and husband, Edsel, of Roanoke Rapids; his nephew, Jerry Scott and wife, Lenora; his grandchildren, Kyle Hunter Keener, Kelsey Alice Keener, Terry Lee Barham, II, Brooke LeAnne Barham, Jessica Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Adrienne Powell and husband, Michael, Chris Bryant, Jackie Raymond, Jacob Mead, Christian Mead and Noah Mead; his great-grandchild, Ryleigh Powell.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Quankie Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Frank Stansbury.  Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements.

He was a kind man. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone. I never forgot all the help Mr and Mrs keener offered some years back when Wayne (my husband) was in need. Wayne thought a lot of Mr. Keener. It is not good bye but it is till we meet again. Bless the family and comfort them at this time.
