Dewey C. "Vince" Vincent

Dewey Clayton “Vince” Vincent, Jr., 65, of 1941 Daniel Street, Roanoke Rapids, died  Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Vincent dearly loved his church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, and gospel music.  He was a trophy-winning hairstylist for 40 years, who thoroughly enjoyed fixing hair.  He worked with the late Suzy Elias, Irvin’s Beauty Salon in Richmond, which was the largest on the East Coast, and also worked at Joan’s Hair Gallery.  He loved meeting people and making them laugh and feel better, and enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey C. Vincent, Sr. and Lillie Bell Coburn Vincent; his sisters, Earline and Evelyn Vincent, and Carolyn Robbins, his brother, Elvin Vincent.  He is survived by his brother, Melvin Vincent and wife, Nellie, his sisters: Louise Vincent and Glenda Woodruff and her husband, Thurman, his brother-in-law, David Robbins,  his nieces and nephews, Mike Clark and wife, Loretta, Melinda Guy and husband, Seth, Keith Vincent and wife, Amy, Robbie Robbins and fiancé, Stephanie Duke, his great nieces and nephews, Mike, Jr. and Lindy, and Brittany and Tyler, two aunts, Ellen Norris of Jacksonville, Florida, and Susie Murphy, of Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 3:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Wayne Marshall and Rev. Wayne White with interment following in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.  The family will receive friends Friday, July 16, 2010 at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and other times at the home.  Memorials may be made to: Dewey Vincent Fund, c/o Louise Vincent, 1941 Daniel Street, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina 27870.  Online condolences may be made to www.hockadayfs.com.
