Danny Ray Tharrington, Sr.

Danny Ray Tharrington, Sr., 60, of 45 Madge Lane, Roanoke Rapids, N.C. died Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Danny  was a passionate hunter and fisherman, and a longtime employee of Halifax County.

He was predeceased by his mother, Delphia Ann Young Tharrington, and his brothers, Melvin Tharrington and Jimmy Tharrington.

Survivors include his father, V. L. Tharrington and  wife, Lola, of Roanoke Rapids; his son, Danny Tharrington, Jr. and wife, Michelle, of Gaston; his daughter: Sheila  Clifford  and grandchildren: Justin, Tyler, and Jacob, all of Kentucky;  his  nephews and nieces:  Don Tharrington and wife, Karen, of Seaboard,   Jamie  Powell and husband, Michael ,  and Amy Tharrington  all of Roanoke Rapids, and Jennifer Capps and husband, Jason, of Winterville; and  a very special cousin and dear friend,  Arthur “Sam” Pridgen, Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Castalia;  great nephews: Wyatt Tharrington, Cody Dickens, Colby Powell, Gavin Smith and Alex Capps, and a number of cousins.  The family would like to express their appreciation to Betty Padgett and Larry Pepper for their kindness and friendship to Danny.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday evening, July 26, 2011, at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral  & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements.    Minister Earl Cain will officiate.

The family will receive friends after  the service.
