Christine Worrell Taylor Stephenson

Christine Worrell Taylor Stephenson, 86, of Weldon, died on Monday, September 5, 2011 at her home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Stephenson was born in Battleboro, NC, October 23, 1925, to the late Roland Buck Worrell and Mammie Hux Worrell.  She was a life-long member of Weldon Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker and also retired from Bibb Company.  Mrs. Stephenson was preceded in death by her husbands, Garland Taylor and Paul “Red” Stephenson, and two sons, Ronnie and Vann Taylor.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Taylor of Apex, and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Taylor of Henrico; one daughter, Lynn Strickland and husband, Doug of Chapel Hill; six grandchildren, Missy Shearin, Christy Johnson, Adam Taylor, Tia Barnes, April Gumaer, and Kevin Taylor.  She also was a proud great grandmother of six and one great-great grandchild.  Also surviving is her half brother, RB Worrell, Jr. of Rocky Mount and one foster daughter, Tenny Edwards of North Myrtle Beach, SC.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 6-8 pm.

A Celebration of Christian Life will be held at Weldon Baptist Church Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11:00 am.  Officiating will be Rev. Keith Thomason.  Interment will immediately follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Weldon, NC. 

Flowers are welcomed and the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Weldon Baptist Church and/or Community Home Care and Hospice- 112 Long Circle, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
