Billy R. Cobb

Billy Rain Cobb, 76, of 12779 Justice Branch Road, Littleton died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Cobb was born August 17, 1933 in Halifax County, North Carolina to the late Samuel James and Blanche Barham Cobb.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Ferguson Cobb; five brothers: Howard Cobb, Sam Hix Cobb, Preston Cobb, Leland Cobb and Bobby Cobb; two sisters: Ophelia Cobb, Mary Lee;  Mr. Cobb was a longtime resident of New Jersey and returned back to his hometown 20 years ago to retire.  He loved gardening and graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School.  Mr. Cobb is survived by three sisters: Opal “Sugar” Shell of Roanoke Rapids, Maxine Waters and husband Richard of Greer, SC, Aldine Parks and husband Perry, Sr. of Roanoke Rapids; six nieces and nephews: Thomas Shell, Jr. and wife Evelyn, Tony Shell and wife Sandra, Richard Waters, Jr. and wife Kristy, Sheryl White and husband Terry, Perry Parks, Jr. and wife Sandy, Jeffrey Parks, Tina Curry and husband Ronald, Renee' Cobb, Shaun Cobb and wife Kimber, Jody Timmerman and husband Shane, Wilbert Lee, Jr. and friend Sylvia, Ronnie Cobb and wife Teresa, Debbie Davis and husband Ross, Darrell Cobb, Kenneth Cobb and wife Cindy and Sheena Brown.  Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery with Dr. Richard Waters officiating.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Services and other times at the home of Sugar Shell, 733 Rapids Street.    Online condolences may be made at hockadayfs.com.
