Bernice Chambliss Lucy

ROANOKE RAPIDS

Bernice Chambliss Lucy, 76, of Willow Street, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at White Oak Manor in Charlotte.

Mrs. Lucy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She was a waitress for the Bradford House with W. T. Grant Company and Rosemary Restaurant.

She was born July 20, 1935, to the late Lonnie Lewis Chambliss and Lucy Ben Phillips Chambliss.

She is survived by her husband, Claude Arnold Lucy; her daughters: Karen L. Walker and husband, David, of Charlotte and Kathy L. Sadler and her husband, David, of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren: Darya Walker, April Sadler, and Jason Sadler; her great-grandchild:  Rilen Edwards; her sisters: Doris Epps of Virginia and Mary Vick and her husband, Wendell, of Kentucky; her brother, John Mason Chambliss and wife, Elsie, of Virginia

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery in Triplett, Virginia.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 12:30 P. M. at the funeral home and other times at 1556 Rhea Smith Road,
